Hurricane Earl may present safety hazard for pilots and passengers

September 2, 2010, 10:18 pm

Safety should be on every pilot's mind whenever he or she decides to fly an airplane. Weather conditions can play a huge role in how smoothly one's flight goes. That is why many airlines are making special accommodations for East Coast travelers who may be affected by Hurricane Earl.

Concerns over the potential effects of the hurricane have many airlines encouraging passengers to check on their flight status before heading to the airport. Since air travel may be impeded by the poor weather conditions, Continental Airlines will be allowing travelers a one-time date or time change for their flights without any penalties.

JetBlue is offering their customers more than sympathy as well. The airline announced they will be waiving change fees and fare differences to help accommodate passengers who need to change their flight plans because of Hurricane Earl.

Having to rearrange one's plans due to weather conditions can be a major inconvenience, but it can be essential at certain times. General aviation and large carrier pilots alike should always err on the side of caution if they are unsure of how weather conditions may pan out. ADNFCR-3158-ID-19935431-ADNFCR
