Aviation company to boost Greenville economy

January 24, 2012, 10:36 am

Certified by the Federal Aviation Administration and European Aviation Safety Association, Southern Air Repair Corporation will create at least 20 jobs and invest $750,000 in Greenville County, South Carolina, when it relocates its repair plant to the area.

Southern Air offers repairs on precision machining and welding for major airlines and regional carriers. The company repairs damaged aviation parts through an FAA-approved repair process so they can be used again, typically focusing on pneumatic valves, transmissions, generators and turbine components. Once the company relocates its business to Greenville County, it will hire local machinist technicians, quality support workers, shipping and receiving clerks and other administrative professionals, Fox Carolina reported.

"Our objective is to provide outstanding customer service, high-quality repair and production and rapid just-in-time delivery that meet the needs of today's aviation industry," said Scott Patterson, president of Southern Air Repair.

According to the Anderson Independent Mail, the state of South Carolina has attracted many aviation companies to open up shop in its borders. In 2011, the state has recruited more than $100 million in investment and brought in more than 900 new jobs in the aviation and aerospace industry to communities. As companies continue to repair planes to make them safer, pilots should invest in pilot insurance to ensure their loved ones are financially secure should an accident occur.
