NTSB develops accident investigation course

May 27, 2010, 03:57 pm

A new course has been developed by the National Transportation Safety Board that will give accident investigators insights into accidents involving rotorcraft.

A training session will be held from August 16-20 based on the curriculum developed by the NTSB and will provide investigators with a comprehensive look an overview of the skills and methods needed to complete their work. The course will use examples from investigations that have already been concluded to cast further light on these training activities.

"Case studies may include midair collisions, in-flight fires, in-flight break-ups, and weather-related accidents," the NTSB said.

The board established a website dedicated to the training session, where those interested can find a more complete description of what will be involved. There they will also find registration information along with the cost of attending the conference, which will be held at the NTSB training center in the District of Columbia.

The NTSB recently held a three-day conference dealing with professionalism and safety in aviation. The purpose of the summit was to examine and discuss the procedures that result in creating the best pilots and air traffic controllers.ADNFCR-3158-ID-19804648-ADNFCR
