Thousands convene in California for aviation summit

Aviation enthusiasts gathered in Long Beach, California earlier this month for the 2010 Airplane Owners and Pilots Association Aviation Summit.
More than 60 hours of educational discussions were combined with an awards show, luncheon and plane display. AOPA president and CEO Craig Fuller says attendees responded favorably to the new features at the summit.
"We expanded our coverage on AOPA Live and had pilots tuning in and sending their questions from, literally, all over the world," says Fuller. "We enjoyed new social events like the block party and Airport Fest barbecue. And we offered new forums on subjects ranging from wellness to business use of your aircraft."
Next year's summit is scheduled to take place in Hartford, Connecticut at the end of September.
Events, like the AOPA Summit are good way for pilots and aviation fans to meet one another and discuss the direction of the industry. There are a number of events and groups around the country dedicated to the activity.
