Vermont House passes resolution recognizing importance of general aviation

May 24, 2010, 06:50 pm

Recently, the Vermont House of Representatives approved a resolution showing its support of the general aviation industry.

The resolution, which was presented by Janice Peaslee, was passed by legislators on May 7. Through the action, members of the House recognized the different areas where general aviation plays an important role.

For example, the resolution highlighted how general aviation helps with agricultural production and the development of maps. According to the decree, general aviation is responsible for generating $150 billion for the nation's economy every year.

With the resolution, the House called upon the federal government to refrain from putting forward policies that would negatively affect general aviation in the country, including implementing user fees and increasing taxes.

Recently, lawmakers at the federal level introduced their own resolution recognizing the efforts of the general aviation industry in helping relief efforts in Haiti after the country experienced an earthquake in January. The measure noted that more than 4,500 flights were made in the 30 days following the earthquake, which helped deliver supplies and relief workers to the Caribbean country.ADNFCR-3158-ID-19795826-ADNFCR
