FAA taking general aviation survey

June 8, 2010, 10:29 pm

The Federal Aviation Administration is currently in the process of taking the 2009 General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey, and those who have been selected to answer questions are being encouraged to do so.

The purpose of the survey is to help the administration gain a better understanding of general aviation activities in the country. Furthermore, the poll is used to track the impact this type of aviation has on the U.S. air system and whether additional facilities may be needed.

"The information provided will be used only for statistical purposes and will not be published or released in any form that would reveal specific information reported by an individually identifiable respondent," The FAA said. "Names of individuals are never associated with responses."

Participants in the survey may be selected randomly. PA Consulting Group was selected to take the survey, and people are being told to complete it even if they did so last year. Some classes of aircraft have all of its members selected every year.

Along with surveying general aviation, the FAA is working on implementing the Next Generation Air Transportation System, which will affect all types of aircraft. Rather than use radar-based tracking, NextGen will rely on satellite-based GPS technology.ADNFCR-3158-ID-19825987-ADNFCR
