2013 Southeast Aviation Expo sets a date

October 24, 2012, 03:09 pm

The date has been set for the 2013 Southeast Aviation Expo at Greenville Downtown Airport in South Carolina. South Carolina Aviation Association officials announced that the event will be held on September 27 and 28.

“This event is an annual fundraiser for the South Carolina Aviation Association,” said Marion Hope, SCAA president. “Post-event exhibitor surveys were extremely favorable. Many expressed that they got face time with existing clients and met a number of valuable prospective customers, which made the expo a very worthwhile tool to strengthen their network of aviation-focused contacts."

Hope added that interaction and conversation within the industry is exactly what they are trying to achieve, a trade show event for aviation fans from the region.

“We hope to grow this event each year, and who knows, one day we might be as big as the Northwest Aviation Conference & Trade Show in Washington state," said Joe Frasher, airport director of the Greenville Downtown Airport. "It has been in existence for 29 years and pulls about 12,000 attendees."

For aviation fans who can't wait till next year for the event, the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, is hosting its annual Veterans Day program on November 11. Event attendees will have the opportunity to meet and talk with former combat veterans from World War II, the Cold War era, and the Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Numerous aircraft from the museum will be available for visitors enjoyment and entry. Aircraft include the Bell UH-1 “Huey” helicopter, the P-47 Thunderbolt, the Vought F4U Corsair, the F-100 SuperSabre and the Kaman SH-2F Seasprite helicopter.

Former servicemembers will be entitled to half off the museum's admission price throughout November, the other half of the ticket cost will be donated to the Friends of Fisher House Connecticut. The Fisher House constructs and maintains residential facilities near military hospitals across the United States.

A separate event in Arizona is showing off and encouraging event-goers to purchase aircraft. Various aviation dealers are putting on the fourth annual Arizona Aircraft Expo, scheduled for November 9 and 10 at Landmark Aviation at Scottsdale Airport. The latest aircraft on the market from companies like Cessna, Cirrus, Beechcraft, Diamond, Eclipse, Embraer, Piper, Lancair, Quest and CubCrafters will be available for purchase.

General aviation events are often a good reminder that pilot insurance is a viable option to ensuring loved one's financial security.
