AOPA creates group to encourage aviation

July 12, 2012, 04:03 pm

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association recently created an advisory group of 10 clubs that will increase efforts to make flying more affordable for pilots in the general aviation community.

The advisory group will look to foster camaraderie, focusing how the clubs can create a feeling of community among aviators.

According to the AOPA, aviation clubs have a significant role in the aviation community. More than half of the country's current pilots are active or past members of a club, and nearly all of them consider it.

"It’s clear that flying clubs are an important part of the fabric of aviation," said AOPA President Craig Fuller. "They make flying more affordable and accessible, often in a social environment that keeps pilots active and engaged. It only makes sense that AOPA has committed to a long-term initiative that aims to support the development and growth of the flying club community."

The AOPA is the largest aviation association in the world, with more than 400,000 pilots and aviation enthusiasts in the United States branch. For those looking to add to their memberships, pilot life insurance is sure way in benefitting the future of aviation for generations to come, ensuring family members financial security.
