Aviation event draws a crowd, more to come

June 4, 2012, 03:39 pm

The Discover Aviation Days event drew large crowds June 2-3 at Anoka County Airport in Blaine, Minnesota.

Organizers estimated that more than 12,000 people were in attendance for the two-day event that featured an 80 percent scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.

The ceremony opened featuring local, state and federal political dignitaries followed by the American Veterans Traveling Tribute. Other events and attractions included military hardware exhibits from the American Wings Air Museum, flying demonstrations, kids attractions, multiple exhibits, aircraft and helicopter rides and food booths.

Another event, the Kentucky Airport Challenge 2012 will host pilots from Kentucky who are challenged to fly to any and all of the 39 participating airports in the state and compete for prizes in support of Kentucky’s airports. The event, which runs during June and July, concludes with a Fly-in BBG and prize raffle on August 14th in Tompkinsville, Kentucky.

Pilots supporting and attending either event should consider pilot life insurance as a viable option for ensuring the financial security of their loved ones.
