Aviation support honored

November 12, 2010, 08:53 am

It's hard to imagine what things would be like it aircraft didn't exist. From large commercial carriers to small personal planes, the mode of transportation has transformed the world.

Even today's modern world benefits from aviations existence. Areas that surround airports employ many people through restaurants and hotels in addition to the airport itself.

Some even put themselves in potentially dangerous situations flying during an emergency, making pilot insurance good to have.

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue voiced his continued support for the industry during the National Business Aviation Association's Annual Meeting and Convention.

"Business aviation is an 'extender,'" said Perdue. "Time is money, but it's more than money. All of us get the same amount of time, but aviation helps us use it more effectively."

At the conference, the governor received an award for his continued support of aviation.

Georgia isn't the only state to honor the industry for all that it offers. Several other states have designated a month in honor of the mode of transportation. Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, for example, has set aside October to highlight aviation.
