CAE awarded millions for flight simulators

January 13, 2012, 09:06 am

CAE recently announced it received more than $65 million in contracts to develop full-flight simulators for customers in Asia, with 30 simulator sales already announced for the 2012 fiscal year.

The flight simulators will be used by a variety of airlines and aviation companies to train pilots using digital technology before taking to the skies. The simulators are less expensive, more energy efficient and less dangerous than actual flying lessons. Pilot insurance is another tool that can be used to make flying safer.

In addition, CAE has also recently opened its first business jet and civil helicopter training center in Mexico to be used for pilot training. The training center is located at the Aeropuerto Internacional de Toluca in Toluca, Mexico, just outside Mexico City. By opening the training center, CAE hopes to expand its presence in emerging business aviation and civil helicopter training markets all over the world, Blue Sky reported.

According to the source, training facility in Mexico is one of seven locations CAE has established, including Dallas, Texas; Burgess Hill, U.K.; and Dubai, UAE.
