Calvert County plane crash injures 2

November 22, 2011, 06:31 pm

A small plane recently crashed just outside of Baltimore, Maryland, on a flight back from Illinois. The pilot overshot the runway and two people were injured in the crash.

The two injured individuals were rushed to the hospital and have yet to be identified, The Washington Post reported. The pilot was attempting to land at Chesapeake Ranch Estates in Lusby. Although the injuries are not life threatening, pilot insurance could help pay for the bills that will result from the crash.

Similarly, Thomas Glass, a retired fighter pilot in the National Guard, was recently flying his single-engine plane over Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana when his aircraft started to malfunction and he crashed into a nearby lake three miles from the nearest airport. Nola.com reported that Glass notified the tower at Lakefront Airport before nosediving into the lake.

When firefighters got to the scene, Glass was sitting on top of the tale of the plane as it slowly sank into the water. Glass suffered no serious injuries, but his boat remains in the lake. Rescue crews flagged down a private boat to help them find Glass, and buoys have been set up to prevent boaters from crashing into the plane.
