Crash at Boeing Field injures 2

December 1, 2011, 05:54 pm

A small plane leaving Boeing Field slammed into a parked plane recently in Washington. The pilot of the plane was a student taking a lesson with his instructor. Both parties were injured in the crash and rushed to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

My Fox Spokane reported that after the crash there was a brief fire that was quickly put out, but caused severe damage to the plane. Both passengers suffered injuries but nothing life-threatening, an airport spokeswoman told the source.

According to KGW, the NBC affiliate for Portland, Oregon, veered off into a parked plane while taking off. Airport firefighters were quick to the scene and were able to extinguish the inflamed plane before the passengers were badly burned.

The news source reported that the Piper PA-44 multi-engine aircraft that slammed into the parked plane was the same type of aircraft involved in a deadly mid-air collision that occurred in October in Newberg, Oregon. Investing in pilot insurance can provide reassurance for unforeseen circumstances such as these crashes.
