GE to move to move to Pompano Beach

May 7, 2012, 10:45 am

GE Aviation announced recently that it will expand into a new facility in Pampano Beach, Florida.

The building will offer a 30 percent increase in square footage and a research and development lab that will advance numerous developments, including the procurement of silicon carbide, the based power conversion products for land, air and sea-based platforms.

GE Aviation is the leader in producing large and small engines for commercial and military aircraft. This expansion comes a few days after it signed an exclusive ClearCore service provider agreement with Aircraft Services International Group.

"This new facility enables us to continue work on GE-developed SiC technology, with the potential of reducing the weight on an aircraft by more than 400 pounds," said Vic Bonneau, president of Electrical Power for GE. "GE is committed to Florida and is investing approximately $20 million in program work and R&D related to our Pompano Beach facility over the next five years."

GE Aviation is hoping this new real estate will lead to technological advancements that will increase the passenger and storage space on an airplane, as well as meet the demand for electrical power on a plane.
