Impact of travel to be presented to members of Congress 

The travel industry's significant impact on the U.S. economy is expected to have government officials vying for its promotion.

Travel Blitz, the U.S. Travel Association's new program which highlights the travel industry's significant impact on the nation as a whole, will be heard by members of Congress. 

"Those of us closest to our industry know the critical role travel plays in our nation's economic health, but we must spread that important message to every member of Congress," said Roger Dow, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association. "Travel Blitz will activate travel grassroots advocates to engage key Members of Congress and tell personal stories about how travel contributes to the economy and how it provides important jobs throughout communities nationwide."

Travel Blitz will engage the elected officials on ways in which they should handle visa reform, customs and entry issues, the importance of government meetings, and transportation and infrastructure issues to meet forecasted demand.

The U.S. Travel Association recently launched a study on how travel affects relationships, education, business, communities and the economy. Known as Travel Affect, the multiyear, multimillion dollar campaign will also serve as a good tool for members of congress to base decisions on, as well as  to highlight travel's importance to the nation. 

Dow said that what we've known anecdotally about travel will now be proven with authoritative research. 

Cirrus Aircraft begins production on ICON5
Cirrus Aircraft company officials recently announced that it has completed production of the ICON 5 that began in December 2012. As the U.S. Travel Association highlights the impacts of travel on the nation, general aviation pilots are already ahead of the game.

Planes like the ICON5 and other general aviation aircraft allow their pilots to come and go as they please, avoiding the hassles of an airport and, best of all, get them traveling. The new plane's angle of attack and altitude indicator instruments are in pre-production manufacturing and will be ready for delivery in the near future. 

"AoA indicators significantly advance light aircraft safety but are not in widespread use in general aviation," read a recent Cirrus newsletter. "Therefore, ICON is using a proprietary AoA system, with significant milestones in the development and component testing process being recently completed."
