WACO launches Great Lakes Paint Scheme Contest

February 5, 2013, 02:07 pm

WACO Aircraft has recently announced that the Great Lakes Paint Scheme Contest is underway, giving aviation fans a chance to enter their artwork to win prizes.

Company officials said the Great Lakes 2T-1A-1 project is looking to find a new paint scheme for their first aircraft. Contestants can submit any number of entries by February 17 and the top five entries will be voted for by the public to decide the winner. Prizes for the contest include a demo ride in the very first Great Lakes biplane, the winner's name on the plane, a personalized commemorative award, a WACO Aircraft goodie bag and a special invitation as a VIP guest to the public launch event for Great Lakes.

Last month, WACO Aircraft announced that the TMF-5D aircraft will now feature full ADS-B NextGen capabilities with the new Garmin GDL 88 ADS-B data-link, Garmin GTN 750 and Garmin GTN 635 Touchscreen navigators. Officials noted that the Garmin GDL 88 data-link allows for the display of 60 ADS-B traffic targets.

Those in the pilot community are anxiously awaiting the day that the Federal Aviation Administration's NextGen system is fully in place. Whether or not that is soon, pilots are encouraged to obtain pilot life insurance.
