MAC Commercial hires aviation insurance expert

Backed by more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry as a consultant and aircraft insurance specialist, Brian Kirkland was recently appointed officially as a consultant at MAC Commercial and Professional risks, with headquarters on the Isle of Mann, according to the nation's website.
Jon McGowan, managing director of the MAC group, noted that the appointment marked the company's dedication to pursuing and employing experienced specialists across a variety of financial risk markets.
"As we have developed our aviation business we felt that we needed even more dedicated resources and as I had known Brian for several years it was a logical step to appoint him in this new role," said McGowan.
McGowan also noted that while some of MAC's current clients include aviation businesses, he believes that Kirkland's experience will attract more aviation clients.
Any form of aviation insurance coverage is likely to be highly specialized, including insurance for pilots. Independent and commercial pilots often consider policies that cater to their specific needs as aviators, and many aviation groups and pilot associations offer discounted insurance rates for certified aircraft pilots.
