Training group collecting tips to improve flight instruction

March 17, 2011, 03:04 am

The International Association of Flight Training Professionals is working on building a database that includes all the 'best practices' for flight instruction, according to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

The IAFTP is creating an online database of successful training tactics in an effort to expand the ability of instructors to share tips, which may improve the quality of pilot training.

"There are as many ways to teach flying as there are good instructors. And, every good instructor develops special ways to guide students toward becoming safe and competent pilots instead of simply accumulating hours to a minimum standard," said the AOPA.

Instructors can submit their personal training techniques online to the IAFTP, which will then review the submissions before posting them on the SKYbrary, which is an online resource for flight safety information, according to the AOPA.

Training is essential to teaching pilots how to safely operate and maneuver an aircraft. However, even pilots with extensive training may at some point find themselves involved in a situation that could potentially lead to a fatal accident. For these circumstances, it is important to have life insurance for pilots, which will help provide for their families should they sustain terminal injures during a crash.
