University, scholarship promote growth in general aviation

December 31, 2012, 04:51 pm

Twin Commander Aircraft recently announced it is entering its third decade of hosting what it calls the Twin Commander University. Beginning in Aspen in 1990, the university includes several days of seminars on owning, operating and maintaining Twin Commander Aircraft, while allowing owners to get together and exchange ideas and information about all things pertaining to aviation.

“The university was founded on a simple principle – to learn something from each other about the airplanes we operate, maintain and support, and also to enjoy a few days in the company of friends and colleagues in a nice setting,” said Twin Commander Aircraft President Matt Isley.

The 2013 Twin Commander University will be held at the Scottsdale Marriott McDowell Mountains resort in Arizona, starting April 25.

Numerous events and aviation offerings occur within the general aviation industry to promote growth and increased knowledge. In another development that hopes to increase aviation opportunities, the National Air Transportation Foundation announced that it will offer the $1,500 Richard L. Taylor Flight Training Scholarship to a college or university student looking to continue their education in the aviation industry.

Those entering the general aviation industry are encouraged to look into pilot life insurance early to ensure finances are in order later in life.
