Just Aircraft Highlander SuperStol deliveries are underway

January 31, 2013, 10:12 am

The general aviation aircraft business is booming and more planes are being regularly added to the market. Just Aircraft is the latest, as it recently announced that it has successfully flight tested its new Highlander SurperStol.

Company officials said the plane can be built from a kit in the Experimental Amateur-Built category or it can be certified as a Special Light-Sport Aircraft. They also noted th at 300 kits have already been shipped to customers in the United States and around the world.

The plane features the new slatted wing and a landing gear that company officials say is indestructible, as it can utilize 29 inch tundra wheels.

“The new slatted wing has significantly enhanced the performance numbers and slow flight control,” said Troy Woodland, design Engineer at Just Aircraft. “The wing slats, when combined with the large Fowler flaps, allow the aircraft to be flown at extremely high angles of attack, permitting it to ‘drop' into small or inclined clearings. This provides access to considerably more off-airport landing sites, making the SuperStol one of the most versatile backcountry machines out there.”

In addition to the plane's improved landing gear, with long strut airshocks it is capable of landing in off airport sites as well. Any current SuperStol owners can retrofit their planes with the new folding wing.

In addition, the Highlander SuperStol can be retrofitted with wheels, tundra tires, skis or floats. The plane weighs 720 pounds and has a useful load capability of 600 pounds.

Smyrna delivers King Air C90
Just Aircraft is not the only company releasing planes this month. Officials at Smyrna Air Center announced the company's first King Air C90, which is powered by General Electric's new H80 and 800 SHP engines, has been delivered.

In addition to the two GE engines, the 1974 King Air C90  has two new Avia V510 5-Blade Quiet Propellers.

Curt Drumm, the new plane's owner, said he could not be more pleased with Smyrna, GE or the plane.

“The excitement over this aircraft is high and has allowed us to pre-sell charter time in the plane," Drumm said. "We fully expect to keep four-seven whiskey flying day after day. I'm already starting to get calls from potential H80 customers wanting to demo the plane.”

Any general aviation pilots who have recently acquired a plane in preparation for the upcoming flying season should also look into purchasing pilot life insurance, as it will protect family members in the event of an emergency.
