Ground school launched in California

March 26, 2012, 09:17 am

Irwin Fust, certified flight instructor, is conducting an aviation ground school course for students interested in pursuing a sport pilot or private license. The ground course will discuss all topics that must be learned prior to passing the Federal Aviation Administration's written knowledge test before flight training.

According to Red Bluff Daily News, the ground course will cover numerous elements of flying such as airplanes and aerodynamics, federal airspace, pilot insurance, and weight and balance. The class will help prepare students for careers in aviation.

Students in Effingham County, Georgia, have also been given new aviation opportunities. Savannah Now reported high school students learned about Gulfstream and the aviation industry during Aviation Career Day. The event featured interactive displays, facility tours and a flight simulator program.

“This is something we want to do annually from now on,” said Mark Bennett, a community relations manager for Gulfstream. “Everything is hands on and interactive, which is so important with this generation. We want to expose them to our industry, and hopefully down the road we’ll have access to more homegrown talent.”
