Washington field will play host to General Aviation Day

May 7, 2010, 04:57 pm

This year will mark the 15th time people in Washington will be able to celebrate general aviation.

Snohomish County's Paine Field and the Washington Pilots Association is hosing General Aviation Day, which will occur at the airport on May 15. Admission to the event is free, and activities are going to be available that should interest a variety of festival goers.

"Come see the latest in general aviation aircraft as well as many of the airplanes owned and operated by local private pilots," a release from the airfield said.

Along with music and a children's activity area, vintage aircraft will be on hand from a number of organizations. The planes will include fighters from World War II and those used prior to the conflict.

While festival goers will get a chance to show their support for general aviation in Washington, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association has made a national push to highlight its importance for the nation. The campaign, which started last year, features celebrity spokesmen Harrison Ford and Morgan Freeman.ADNFCR-3158-ID-19765189-ADNFCR
